Pokemon Card State Championship

Hello, everybody.

Thanks for waiting a loooooooooooooooong time for my next post. I was actually at a Pokémon Card State Championship, and I had a great time. I learned a lot of tricks and tips, and today I'm going to give you a mega-post on everything I learned.

My deck:

My deck used Cobalion ex as my main attacker, had Victini ex for its energy accelerator, and had Darmanitan, Simisear, and Infernape as secondary attackers. I had a mini Hypnotoxic Laser strategy going, but my main goal was to hit for at least 100 damage each turn consistently.

What I learned:

I got a lot of positive feedback from my deck and I learned a lot about how in-depth the game can go. These are the modifications that fellow players suggested (in addition to my thoughts afterwards).

More Cobalion ex
More Victini ex
Add Klinklang evo line
Remove Darmanitan, Simisear, and Infernape lines
Add Victory Piece Ace Spec
Add Super Rod

Here are some card reviews:

Cobalion ex - This card surpassed my expectations. Cobalion was my best attacker and really easy to energize with Victini. It can hit for 100 damage each turn negating resistance or any other effect.

Victini ex- This is the ultimate energy accelerator. I could potentially set up in ONE TURN with this guy. I definitely recommend this for any fire deck that needs energy acceleration big-time (or a pretty good ex tech)

Hugh - Hugh was more than helpful in my deck. It helped my draw power while limiting my opponent. This helped almost every game I played.

Bicycle - Boo! Not that I have anything against bicycles, but all this card did was take up space in my hand. Unless you desperately need cards and you got hit with an N, this card is useless.

Hypnotoxic Laser - Absolutely amazing! This card was in every deck I played, and it really makes a difference. Believe me, its more than a gimmicky PlusPower. When combined with Virbank City Gym, you have at least a 30 damage boost for your attack. This card makes a difference.

Well, if you have any questions about my deck, or you want to start playing the Pokémon card game but don't know where to start, feel free to comment. Thanks!

Smashing Strawberries

Yesterday, I went to a science convention at Railroad Square. I measured the salinity of water, held sea urchins, looked at fruit flies under a microscope, created fake clouds, and more. But the best part was extracting DNA from a strawberry. That's right. I have a picture below.

Here's how I did it. First, I smashed the strawberry into a clumpy bumpy juice. Then, I used detergents to break the cells apart. Then, mixing it all together, I filtered out the large particles. Next, I put pure alcohol in the mixture to clump the DNA together. The picture below shows me holding condensed DNA, of course. If it was stretched out, it could go to the sun and back. Isn't that wild?

Pi-mania

Happy Pi Day, people! March 14, 3.14, see the connection? If you don't, please write the first million digits of pi for punishment. Just kidding!

If you knew about my blog in 5th grade, you would remember my prize-less contests. Inspired by the Indian caste system, I have come up with a brand-new contest format.

Click here for more information on the caste system.

Basically, I will give you a certain number of Eco-points for each contest, depending on how well you did. I will then add this to your Eco-point total. Based on your point total, you will be put in a certain "caste". Every once in a while, I will send prizes to everybody, the prizes based on your caste. Now, in addition to motivation to get Eco-points, submitting an entry to any contest will help the world. Each contest is oriented in some fashion to making the world a better place, so even if you think your entry is a bad idea, it will benefit everybody. Therefore, any submission will be helpful!

I will also have different difficulty levels for each contest, so depending on how involved you want to get, your needs will be met.

If you have any questions, ask me.

Here are the castes:

0 points - Hobbyist
50 points - Beginner
100 points  - Rookie
150 points - Amateur
200 points - World hugger
300 points  - Advanced
400 points - Expert
500 points - Master
1000 points - Eco-Ultimate

Here's the first contest:

The year is 2020. You are a parasitic disease expert that discovered a parasite that will threaten the entire world. It is spread by blood-sucking insects and is infecting 300-500 million people each year. The death rate is 33% and you can barely treat anybody in time before they die. You have a decent treatment, but there are too many people to treat. The biggest problem is that the blood-sucking insects are almost impossible to get rid of and can't be controlled.  Come up with the most outrageous solution to cure this disease.

For people who want to get more in-depth:

This parasite multiplies itself in red blood cells and infects them. This parasite makes the victims tired and weary, and then makes them drowsy, vomit, and potentially kills them off.  This disease is transmitted only by these blood-sucking insects, which bite humans at night. Unfortunately, poor countries are the most infected, and they don't have the resources to treat it. People don't have shelters or protection, so they are greatly exposed.

For the people who really want a challenge:

This disease has evolved to cause brain infections, kidney and liver failure, and the destruction of blood cells. The countries infected don't have enough money to pay for treatment and the vaccine is still developing due to the complexity of this virus.

Again, you are looking for an creative but effective way to treat this disease. Thank you for your help!

Hello, Once Again!

Hello, folks! It's Townsend! That's right, I'm back with a whole new boatload of surprises.

(Duh, duh duh!) So, I'll first start out with the fact that I have had a great middle school experience. Juggling homework, piano practice, horn practice, writing a novel, trying to start a tutor business, developing a math theory, and playing Pokémon has been a bit difficult, but that's life.

I'll tell you the math theory I'm working on, so if you have any suggestions, you can send them to me.

Disclaimer: If you steal this idea and embarrass yourself in front of public television, I hold no responsibility.

That was a joke, if you didn't pick that up.

Here's the general idea: You know how when you divide a number by 0, it becomes undefined? Well, my "theory" states that the number can be defined by a branch on the number line. Again, I'm just developing this, so I haven't worked out the details yet.

Last of all, I need clickies! All you have to do is click on the link below, click on my Pokémon or Pokémon eggs, and interact with them! Thank you for your clickies! All clickies are appreciated. I like clickies!
